Bug Description

After upgrading from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04, I find that I can no longer run eog: it displays the requested image and then exits after a few seconds; the following is printed to the console:

 failed to create drawable
(eog:15986): Clutter-CRITICAL **: Unable to initialize Clutter: Unable to select the newly created GLX context
(eog:15986): Clutter-WARNING **: Unable to create a new stage: the glx backend does not support multiple stages.
(eog:15986): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer instance
(eog:15986): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_data: assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed
failed to create drawable
(eog:15986): Clutter-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x5400015 the current GLX drawable
(eog:15986): Clutter-CRITICAL **: clutter_container_add_actor: assertion `CLUTTER_IS_CONTAINER (container)' failed
(eog:15986): Clutter-CRITICAL **: clutter_stage_set_color: assertion `CLUTTER_IS_STAGE (stage)' failed
The program 'eog' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 1234 error_code 9 request_code 14 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Thank you for your bug report, I don't know what you are doing but eog doesn't use clutter in Ubuntu so your are using something not supported there

Changed in eog (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
importance: Undecided → Low

OK, I uninstalled eog-plugins, and eog doesn't exit. So the culprit must be in a plugin.

By selectively disabling different plugins, I find that it's the Map plugin that causes the clutter problem. Well I never got Map to work, so good riddance!

affects: eog (Ubuntu) → eog-plugins (Ubuntu)
