When error occurs, show it in a modal window instead of at the top of the main window

Bug Description
Currently, when an error occurs, it's shown at the top of the main window. This is OK if you have a big screen, but in many cases, the error is hidden because the user viewport is at the bottom of the screen.
It would be better to have the error displayed in a modal window with an [OK] button to dismiss it for instance.
