When installing a new application, does not appear in the application menu.

This is a known issue. This problem is Ubuntu's patching of a package called gnome-menus. The patches are incompatible with budgie-desktop - in vanilla budgie-desktop the panel crashes and sometimes the whole desktop session crashes.

Thus we have had to disable the autorefresh of the menu when installing new applications.

The workaround is to either logout/login or run budgie-panel --replace &

We are investigating this for 17.04 - if we can work around these issues for 17.04 we will try to backport the fix for 16.04 and 16.10.

fixed in latest updates - gnome-menus patch that we hold locally for 16.04/16.10 but patched in the main ubuntu-package in 17.04
