Bug Description

After install on a Netbook Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 the system reboot successfuly.
But the next reboot render only a black screen instead of logon screen.
It is not possible to get TTY (Ctrl+Alt+F1) and none of the recovery modes solved the problem. Both "repair packages" and "file system check" freeze at the same point, so I think it is something related to Dell backlight.
Tried to use Upstart and Systemd with no luck.
I made a video showing what I get as I cannot even read log files:

Hi,

  your problem appears to be a bug -

If I read that bug report correctly you need to remove that systemd file.

To do so you need to boot up - at the grub screen press e to edit the grub entry .

remove "quiet splash" and replace this with the text

    systemd.restore_state=0

This should boot your computer. At this point you can follow the rest of the bug report to delete that systemd file.

Yes, I confirm I can boot the system after editing that GRUB entry.
Thank you very much.
I got one extra question: if it is a Systemd bug, why even selecting Upstart as init system the boot fails?

From reading that bug report, its the fact that its installed that systemd
file is the key issue - so it doesnt matter if you start via upstart - that
systemd file is still installed and is executed.
