Bug Description

having fixed the installer - i now see that no new user gets created once the system is installed - having entered username and password as part of the install process, this information does not get used and the system is left with one user autologing in - lintian

It also still has "install puredyne" in the system menu, perhaps related

I think the install Puredyne entry is normal, as ubiquity will give you the same apps as the live system, so it will also replicate itself.

Another lead: When making the new live system, I encountered a problem with the user creation, namely the fact that the live user was not created at boot time (lintian should be created on the fly, the ISO itself has no hardcoded users). So I ended up writing hook that manually add lintian.

So maybe ubiquity hits the same bug as live-initramfs that prevent the on-the-fly user creation, and you end up just with lintian that I harcoded into the system?

I just got this same thing again on the latest puredyne-1010-gazpacho-DVD-i386-beta.iso

My fingers are crossed that this is why I can't do RT audio without xruns.

I noticed this similar bug report from 2008:

Just tried http://puredyne.restruct.org/gazpacho/puredyne-1010-gazpacho-CD-i386-beta.iso

Same problem.

Upon booting from LIve CD, it says "pwconv: failed to change the mode of /etc/passwd- to 0600

Then, booting from the installed partition, it says it cannot read "/etc/udev/rules.d/z80-user.rules"
However I doubt that's an issue since my working Puredyne 9.10 (or 9.11?) has this same warning upon boot.

I'm currently trying to find what files I need to change on this partition in order for this to work.

Anybody know?
