Bug Description

This is quite noticeable on large (full-screen) renders, plots can take several seconds to update.
Particularly fanf's and rjk's.
This is worth investigating/optimising.

They are slow because they call cos/sin and in some cases sqrt; they're already pretty well optimised. Short of inventing faster floating point, there's not much can be done here.
