I had this same issue installing from the .deb file into Mint 13 (Ubuntu 12.04 underneath). Reinstalling from the PPA fixed the issue. It brought in the packages libgranite-common and libgranite1. Those should get Beatbox working.

Scott, this bug also affects me. And it's really sad; i prefer Beatbox over Noise/Music, because both have features that the other doesn't have. I really love Beatbox, and it's my favourite app to lisen music; so, i hope you can had some time to see this.

I used Ubuntu 13.04, amd64. This is the output:

[INFO 21:27:40.756018] [Application:74] BeatBox version: 0.7

It affects me too :'(
I hope this will be fixed soon as Beatbox offers better stabilty, features and fancyness than Noise (not mentionning that Noise forget to list every last song of each album I have in my music library, which Beatbox didn't make)

Here is the output from ubuntu 13.04 32bits:
[INFO 02:10:51.700645] [Application:74] BeatBox version: 0.7
[INFO 02:10:51.700752] [Application:76] Kernel version: 3.8.0-29-generic

Same problem with each .deb for the 0.7 version of Beatbox.
Keep going, that is a great project
