Banshee and Banshee remote crashes when connecting to server

Banshee craches as so as I click on the server IP in Banshee Remote and the Banshee Remote force close one second after.

When starting Banshee in a terminal I get this error all the time:
[Warn 12:29:09.667] Caught an exception - System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. (in `System')
  at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.CheckFinalStatus (System.Net.WebAsyncResult result) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0
  at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.SetResponseData (System.Net.WebConnectionData data) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

And when I try to connect the remote app I get this:

Unhandled Exception: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'Banshee.PlaybackController.PlaybackShuffleMode' from assembly 'Banshee.Services, Version=1.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.

I forgot to mention that I'm running Gnome3 on Archlinux

I'm getting the same symptoms running banshee 2.0 on opensuse 11.4 (gnome desktop) and banshee remote 3.0 on android 2.3.4.

Running banshee Banshee 2.0 (2.0.1) on Gentoo linux with banshee remote version 4.2 on a HTC Wildfire.

I do not get the WebExceptions described by froli but the terminal exception matches, namely:

Unhandled Exception: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'Banshee.PlaybackController.PlaybackShuffleMode' from assembly 'Banshee.Services, Version=1.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.

Any explanation would be appreciated.

As an update to this, I only just noticed that banshee-remote-plugin's last update was 31-01-2010, back when banshee was at version 1.5.3.

I also just noticed that the link from the project overview page isn't to the 'Mature' 1.0 release of banshee-remote-plugin, but to the 2009-12-16 'Development' release, which was released circa banshee version 1.5.2.

I assume that there was some kind of API change with banshee between then and 2.0 that is causing the issue.

Hello out there. Since the project is outdated I decided to rework and improve it because I like the idea as banshee user and I'm willing to learn C#.
I'm almost there (just need to implement library browsing, controlling work's well so far).
I will try to contact the initial author before releasing it, I will report soon, stay tuned...

I talked to the original author of this plugin and app and we decided to rework it.
Currently I'm the only one working on that, he's busy with his Ph.D. right now so he has no time to spare...

Confirmed that this bug happens with oneric amd64 banshee build. And the .dll available from launchpad ( and app from market)
