I also confirm this bug on Toshiba Satelite A75-S206 (ATI Radeon Mobility 9000).

Workaround is similar to solutions described above:
1. Modify file: "/etc/usplash.conf" to 1280x800
2. Run: sudo update-initramfs -u -k `uname -r`
