It appears to have fixed bug 42349, which was introuced more recent than this bug. But it still looks like the time when the bug was reported.
That is, if I tune Brightness to smallest (inside Totem), then the whiteness is somehow acceptable, though the color is still not as good as that by the gl/gl2/xshm drivers in mplayer/xine.
