Please update gnome-voice-control package to version 0.3+SVN - there are lots of improvements since 0.2 release, which is currently in Ubuntu since 7.10 (Gutsy), see http://live.gnome.org/GnomeVoiceControl/Releases :

New features and UI improvements:

    * Port to pocketsphinx, much faster now with wsj model.
    * Libnotify support.
    * New actions for clicks, keyboard and main menu.

As far as I know, it is not possible to update to 0.3, until
pocketsphinx and sphinxbase get to the repositories. David
Huggins-Daines prepared the packages few months ago, and I tried to
help him to get advocates for it, but we had no luck in getting them
in. I contacted people on #cmusphinx on Freenode and they said it is
not possible to compile g-v-c 0.3 with sphinx, meaning this task is
blocked by pocketsphinx and sphinxbase.

Doing some initial testing I couldn't get gnome-voice-control to build (I'd get one problem after another...). If someone else has been able to get it working on Karmic, please tell me how :).

There are more recent commits in SVN and trying to build gnome-voice-control from there it works (other than configure ignoring the --prefix option). I've send a mail to upstream to see if they'll get out a new release any time soon. If the answer is negative maybe we should still go with a snapshot from SVN, considering all the gains over 0.2 (most important support for amd64).

There's a problem with gnome-voice-control 0.4 segfaulting which couldn't be fixed yet, so it doesn't seem like we'll be able to get this into Karmic.

i hope you can get this resolved soon. I am eagerly waiting to use this to the Digital picture frame that I made and want to perform actions (like open terminal and shutdown and such) through voice. Thanks.
