Bug Description

I downloaded & installed the 8.04 release candidate and noted the following problem:

After the default installation and switching to nvidia driver using the hardware applet, I have some problems with the screen resolution and refresh rate:

1) By default, Ubuntu uses 1280x1024@75Hz which flickers very much and destroys my eyes. (I think a 85 Hz mode should be selected by default)

2) So I tried to change the resolution to 1152x864@85Hz using System / Settings / Screen resolution. Now, there is the option "Clone screens" - I don't understand this because I only have one screen. At the 1280x1024 resolution, the refresh rates 51 Hz and 50 Hz are possible which is incorrect because when I use the "50 Hz", it uses 75 Hz in real (according to my eyes and the monitor menu). When I switch to 1152x864, I can select 57 Hz or 56 Hz and I have to select 56 Hz to get 85 Hz in real. This is really weird.

For the other modes, there are similar differences.

Same problem here. Only one refresh rate option though, which is 52 hz according to the screen resolution settings, but 75 hz according to my monitor. Something is definitely messed up with the refresh rate stuff.

Give a shout if you need any information/logs/settings/etc.

Nah - "triaged" means something like "the developers have tracked down the problem and collected all necessary information needed to fix it". No worries though :).

This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?

If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug
report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for
you, or if it is still occurring under natty, please tag the bug 'natty'
so it's easier for us to track.
