wodim still does not work on Gutsy. It is not suid root, and by defaults, does not have access to CD drive.
cdrecord found in gutsy's multiverse is set suid root and works correctly. To make wodim work, one has to (permissions get reset after reboot because of using udev/hal) chgrp cdrom /dev/scd* AND chmod g+w /dev/scd*
Still, graphical tools using wodim (brasero and nautilus-cd-burner) claim there is no disk inserted (though CD/DVD writing is possible from command line!)

Is this still a problem for you? I think it's been fixed:
$ ls -l /dev/scd*
brw-rw----+ 1 root cdrom 11, 0 2009-01-23 11:53 /dev/scd0
Please report so we can close the bug, thanks! |
