Bug Description

Ubuntu 11.04, cobbler 2.2.2. Trying to add an apt repository using

cobbler repo add --mirror=http://192.168.10.1:3142/ --name=ubuntu-i386-updates --breed=apt --arch=i386 and get an error that says

cobbler: error: option --breed: invalid choice: 'apt' (choose from 'rsync', 'rhn', 'yum')

In short, the latest available cobbler release refuses to support apt mirrors, while I saw posts of people successfully doing it back in 2009.

Hi there,

Thank you for trying to make Ubuntu better. I have just tested this and I cannot reproduce the error:

test@xya:~$ sudo cobbler repo add --mirror=http://192.168.10.1:3142/ --name=testing --breed=apt --arch=i386
test@xya:~$ sudo cobbler repo list
   testing

For this reason, I'm marking this bug as invalid. If you continue to experience this issue, please re-open the bug.

Thanks again.

Oh I just realized that you are using 11.04. I'd suggest you upgrade to a newer Ubuntu version as this bug has been fixed there.

Sorry for the confusion.

Changed in cobbler (Ubuntu):

Thanks. We are upgrading all our clients to 12.04 as soon as it comes out and we test it, so if the issue is fixed there, we'll be fine - I guess it should be, since 2.2.2 is present in the repositories there by default. I installed Cobbler 2.2.2 from Debian packages and not from the repository, because 11.04 only had the outdated version of Cobbler with the same bug and I was actually hoping to fix it with version 2.2.2, but failed.

Is the bug confirmed in 11.04, at least?
