Bug Description

Binary package hint: homebank

There is a new homebank release v.4.3 available, please update the package in Ubuntu's repositories.

homebank 4.3 comes with preset categories files for some languages (loaded when creating a new wallet) and example file. These files should be included into homebank-data deb package (/usr/share/homebank/datas/ folder, see http://homebank.free.fr/help/00new4.3.html), please don't forget this.

Currently v.4.3. is only available from ppa:cristatus/ppa (https://launchpad.net/~cristatus/+archive/ppa)

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. I have linked this bug to the corresponding bug in Debian and we should be able to get the update when they update their version. Please report any other issues you may find.

Hello all,

You should consider waiting for v4.4 before to spend time on packaging v4.3, as it will be released soon.
Also I think (but I suppose it is what you were going to do), you must upgrade from the official source code and not from any unofficial ppa.

The official source code is available, as usual at HomeBank website: http://homebank.free.fr

At last, if someone can contact me to define a process and on how we can improve the package upgrade delay for HomeBank on both Debian and Ubuntu, this will make me happy, so as many HomeBank users !

Thanks.

Please tell me the last date to submit Lithuanian translation of categories file - I wanna see Homebank 4.4 fully Lithuanian :)
Also I've noticed, that in homebank 4.3 translation strings of "first run" wizard's last page aren't available at https://translations.launchpad.net/homebank/ :(
Have you added strings from last startup wizard's page into https://translations.launchpad.net/homebank/ and updated the pot file for version 4.4?

Homebank packages from https://launchpad.net/~cristatus/+archive/ppa contains 100% identifical code like official Homebank sources from http://homebank.free.fr - it's very easy to compare homabank*.orig.tar.gz from PPA with official sources :)
Amit Mendapara <email address hidden> did good job - adapted old Homebank 4.2 debian packaging to new version, so, why not reuse?

I think you could ask Amit Mendapara <email address hidden> - he has
good debian/ubuntu packaging skills and also actually uses Homebank :)

@mantas: Splitting Lithuanian translate import request to bug 709773 - it's much easier for Ubuntu's developers to handle bugs which have only one issue.

@Mantas:
I think releasing v4.4 middle of february (after fosdem event in brussels in every way).
For translation, please check I have updated the .pot with this fix.

I have not checked Amit ppa content, if the code is the official code then it's okay for me. I just don't want unofficial code to be included in debian ubuntu.

I don't know how packaging work in fact, if Amit wants to help packaging then he could reach Adrien Cunin or Franscesco namuri, which are the last known debian/ubutnu packagers.

I would simply be glad if the packaging of HomeBank could not take so much time for debian/ubuntu.

Max.

The thing to do would be to talk to the Debian maintainer and ask what
you can do to help with the package. Getting it into Ubuntu from
Debian is a simple sync request (requestsync in ubuntu-dev-tools which
is available in Debian and Ubuntu).
Feature Freeze is Feb 24, so we generally will not take new upstream
versions after this without a good reason.

I'm currently working on updating HomeBank for Ubuntu, as I haven't seen any evidence that the Debian maintainer is working on it and the Ubuntu FeatureFreeze is a few days away.
Maxime, looks like 4.4 is not yet available (only beta is), so I'll take 4.3.
