Bug Description
SRU Justification:
Impact: Some newer models of Wacom tablets are not supported by the
kernel driver we got. For this reason we got a similar backports module
in Maverick. Just for Lucid the newer in-kernel versions do not work that
well as there has been a lot of multi-touch changes.
Fix: Backported the standalone driver from the Wacom driver project.
Testcase: Without this recent Wacom models (CTT460, CTL460, CTH460 and
CTH661 will not be working).
---
In Lucid and Maverick, the Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch models are incompatible due to out of date wacom source code. Upstream version of the module code appears to fix the problem. Since it is uncertain when a proper fix will be submitted upstream, I'd like to request a backport package that carries the upstream module to be used in ubuntu.
Further information about this bug can be found in Launchpad bug #568064

It should probably be noted that the module code is not in the linux source. It can be found at http:// linuxwacom. sourceforge. net/
