GUI says "no backup needed" when it means "Backup skipped because running on battery"; Also, should take a backup anyway if manually requested

Bug Description
I just deleted all the snapshots for the last week using the gnome GUI on 1.0.8 (built from source) then clicked the button to take a snapshot. It somehow is under the impression that "no backup needed" (according to the status bar). I am running on battery.
