Bug Description

The current implmentation of the Unity Dash displays two separate sections of apps: One for your frequently used apps, and a separate one for all your installed apps (including the frequently used ones) I suggest another implementation:

1) Remove the frequently used applications section.
2) Make the installed applications section be aware of how many times every application is launched and then use that information to sort the application icons according to those numbers i.e: the most used ones are shown first

This method solves the duplication of applications (firefox showing inside frequently used apps and inside installed apps) and reduces the clutter the Unity Dash is suffering from.

Thanks

Not a bad idea I'd say. But it needs design discussion before it could even more forward. Its somewhat likely to get rejected by the design team, though.

The A-Z ordering of installed apps is useful, and this change conflicts with bug #893214 so marking as won't fix.
