Oneiric: Solid panel vs Gradient with separation lines

The superior panel in Firefox and Thunderbird feels solid, one piece of solid and good quality work, but... in other apps like Software Center, Nautilus, Gedit, etc... it feels awkward with separation lines, like two panels, and the gradient feels cheap.

I actually prefer the separation and gradient. Anyways, if the official themes don't revert, you should try Ambiance evolution, they have the solid, one-piece feeling you seek in the toolbar.

Yes, but this it's design inconsistency between apps: firefox/thunderbird solid panels vs the others (lines with no point, weak colours).

These small details in the UI are important.
We need quality in Ubuntu: Precise, Consistency, Attention to details. Perfection.

I also prefer the gradient separation between the primary toolbars and the title bar as they are two different bars.

In order to fix the inconsistencies you mentioned, Firefox/Thunderbird (and every other GTK2 app which uses the "dark toolbar" style, like Polly) need to migrate to GTK3, and that's not something trivial nor fixable in light-themes.

In any case, updated styling for Metacity has landed and should make this inconsistencies less prominent.
