Place some emblems or icons on the directories in / to increase usability.
program icon for /bin and /sbin
A CD emblem for /cdrom
a home icon for /home
trash icon for /lost+found
terminal or hash icon for /root
package icon for /opt
shield icon for /selinux
server icon for /srv
gear icon for /sys
time icon for /tmp
