GUI way to find out available disk space usage

Bug Description
Xi Zhu discovered that it's very hard to find out the available disk space via the GUI.
Previously this information was (I believe) readily available in the status bar of Nautilus.
The Free space can be found via Right-Click-
Ideally there would be some high-level method (perhaps in the settings/control panel) that showed storage resource usage.
