Bug Description

Something that would be extremely useful, as I noticed in kdenlive, is the ability to click on the Help menu and be able to search all the menu items for the thing you seek. Having used Mac for a couple of years, that feature was awesome. Now that we would not have to rely upon each app to implement this, it seems like implementing something similar would not be too challenging.

Here is a demonstration of Apple's implementation

Hm, that sure is a great feature, I never tried it, but the video demonstrates it perfectly.

If such feature were to be implemented, I don't think it should be done in the Help menu, but instead as an Applet Indicator?

Why an Applet? that would be dissociated from the Menu in most users' minds I would think, making it unnatural.

Personally I dont see this feature ever happening in Ubuntu *personally*

sadly I agree with you, but I'm holding out hope! :)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the current version of Unity. Although not identical to the Apple Macintosh functionality described in the attached video, the HUD feature of Unity provides similar menu function search ability.
