Bug Description
When the menu bar appears, it is placed at a fixed location on the screen. This causes the application name to be partially overwritten with a fadeout effect, which looks extremely sloppy and unaesthetic.
It seems this is done to leave the menu at a constant location to make it an easy mouse target, but this seems misguided - OS X does not do this, but lets the menu float around depending on the size of the application name.
The mouse target issue would be less of a problem if the menu bar was not hidden all the time. This has been filed as a separate issue.
