Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

The icon is a magnifying lens with the + symbol. When I first saw that icon, I thought it was for zooming in. I wasn't able to connect its meaning to "application launcher" intuitively, without looking at a third-party website.

I too found this a horribly confusing choice of icon. I really had no idea what these icons were supposed to do until I stopped to read the tooltip.

In the development of Unity+Compiz, it was big and very intuitive icon Apps/Files (the two white), but in the final, the team choose that's awful tiny icons.
Why? Because that lens white icons appears in the Dash (consistency with the launcher and the dash).
Love to see icons that represent Apps and Files in 11.10, with nice resolution. Please Design Team!
