Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity-2d

The current launcher does not emit animation when icons are clicked, you should develop a form of "bulge" or some other effect, so the user has a feeling that the icon is pressed.

The implementation in Unity-2d conforms to what Unity does, so I suppose this is by design (or lack of a more specific specification).
I’m marking ayatana-design also affected so that the design team can comment on this suggestion.

The same could be implemented in Unity 3D, because the current glowing effect looks like notification about new message, rather than the pressed icon.

A simple solution would be to darken the entire tile on mousedown. This would match how buttons, checkboxes etc behave.
