In usability testing, participants were not able to delete a file by means of the rubbish bin because they couldn't find it. We need to make it more visible.
Desired solution:
- The icon should never be allowed to fold
- users should be able to position the rubbish bin icon on the desktop or in the Launcher in a position of their chosing. |
In usability testing, participants were not able to delete a file by means of the rubbish bin because they couldn't find it. We need to make it more visible.
Desired solution:
- When a user starts to drag a file or app, the trash icon should unfold on to a shelf at the bottom of the Launcher. This shelf is independent of Launcher scrolling. Even if a user auto-scrolls the Launcher as part of a file or app drag action the Trash should always stay positioned at the bottom of the Launcher.
- As soon as the user stops performing a file or app drag action, the trash reverts to it's previous folded state.
- The Launcher auto-scroll zone must move up from the bottom of the Launcher to the top of the Trash when the trash is unfolded and placed on a shelf. |

- All launcher icons that are not valid drop receptacles should disappear (the trash is always a valid drop receptacle)
- If there are too many valid drop receptacles to fit on the screen some icons in the launcher will remain folded. In this case the trash and the first 4 apps in the alt-tab stack (the four apps most recently used) should unfold in their current position. |
