Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

Unity (or compiz, or something) seems to have a persistent problem where popup menus float above all other windows on the screen. They ought to be z-ordered along with their owning window.

For instance I can easily reproduce this by starting hamster-applet, getting its suggestion popup to come up, then switching to another window and dragging that window on top. See the screenshot.

It's kind of strange this is orange tinted; I guess the screen shot program has somehow taken a screenshot of its own selection rectangle.

That's actually the intended behaviour. Especially for FFM cases it
means that you can't see the menu or combobox in the case that the
window is not auto-raised :)

hm, ok. I don't have ffm mode on. It's inconsistent with every other
OS I can recall.

It turns out that if you minimize the hamster window while the popup
is active, the popup menu is left floating free above the desktop.
