Bug Description

When I launch an applicaton at workspace let's say #1, and then launch another application at workpace let's say #2, I'm not able to switch between this 2, because when I am at workspace #x Alt+Tab menu shows only the apps launched on workspace #x.

Distro: Ubuntu 11.10
Arch: amd64
Shell: Unity

that's by design. You can alter the behavior in CCSM under the unity plugin.. untick 'bias alt-tab to prefer.....' in the switcher tab.

I agree that the default behaviour is not ideal, in my opinion. I think Alt+Tab should show apps from all workspaces.

Workaround: Ctrl+Alt+Tab will do it, if you can get your fingers around the combo.

summary: - Alt+Tab behavior is limited to just one workspace

Marking Opinion because the request in this bug conflicts with bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/863399

However a option could be added to 'System Settings / Keyboard / Shortcuts' allowing the user to change Alt-Tab behaviour to effect all workspaces. However this option would have to be switched off by default. This is similar to the situation regarding bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/933776
