Firstly, is there a particular reason why you're trying to regenerate the vapi file? The versioned one should be sufficient.

Secondly, I can't reproduce this with Vala 0.5.6 or 0.5.7 on Gentoo.

Thirdly, the errors indicated look like you have a problem with your Vala installation (for example, multiple installations of different Vala versions colliding), so it's not an Awn problem.

1. i'm using --with-vala option on first installation of awn from bzr
2. ok (i'm using jaunty)
3. fresh install of distro
dpkg -l valac show:
ii valac 0.5.7-1 C# like language for the GObject system

You should be using either the official packages (0.3.2/0.3.2.1) or the Awn Testing PPA on Ubuntu Jaunty:
