Bug Description

 Trying to port Awn to OpenSolaris: (internal build 76 used)

bash-3.2$ /usr/bin/avant-window-navigator

(avant-window-navigator:10107): Pango-WARNING **: error opening config file '/etc/pango/pangorc': Error 0

Screen is composited.
APPLET : /usr/lib/awn/applets/taskman.desktop

icons for active windows under compiz 0.6.2/fusion 0.6.0 on gnome 2.20 appears correctly however when mouse is over one icon for 1st time animation starts/stops and Awn stop working, problem seems to be related with *no text output*.

 (avant-window-navigator:10117): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register existing type `AwnTitle'

(avant-window-navigator:10117): GLib-CRITICAL **: file gthread.c: line 228: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed

** (avant-window-navigator:10117): CRITICAL **: file awn-title.c: line 154: assertion `AWN_IS_TITLE (title)' failed

  Regards,

  CA

What does internal build 76 mean? the Bazaar revision number? If so, you should probably update to the latest revision. Trunk isn't moving too fast at this point, anyway.

Does this file exist? Does pango need it on Solaris? That file doesn't exist on my (Linux) system.

No, sorry for the misunderstood , I has referring OpenSolaris version I use
term internal, because version available to public atm is build 75 , but I
use 76 (last build available internal at Sun), b76 is based on Gnome
2.20and use Compiz
0.6.2 + Compiz fusion 0.6.6 ported recently by me, for that Awn test I use
version 143 from bzr branch

Well that message was strange, but seems harmless, other things that use
pango works well, and don't display that
warning, that file doesn't exist on OpenSolaris

Thanks for your time, Kind Regards,

Carlos Almeida,

Could you run AWN with a debug build of Gtk+? This usually means that Gtk+ was built with --enable-debug=yes , and that AWN should be run under a debugger (e.g., gdb) with the flag --g-fatal-warnings . For example, for gdb, you would run `gdb --args avant-window-navigator --g-fatal-warnings`. Then, attach the backtraces onto this bug.

Thanks for trying to port AWN!

What happens out of the terminal is the same. "When mouse is over one icon for 1st time animation starts/stops and Awn stop working". My terminal says something similar:

chaves@afonsox:~$ avant-window-navigator
Screen is composited.
APPLET : /usr/lib/awn/applets/taskman.desktop

(avant-window-navigator:6507): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register existing type `AwnTitle'

(avant-window-navigator:6507): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed

** (avant-window-navigator:6507): CRITICAL **: awn_title_show: assertion `AWN_IS_TITLE (title)' failed

Until an hour ago, the avant-window-navigator was running well, and although I've changed some settings, the problem is there even if I use default settings. I hope it helps.

Adrian,

Thanks for the report. I can see why you made a note in this bug but I'd suggest following https://bugs.launchpad.net/awn/+bug/245448

It looks like it's a somewhat different issue. I'll post a bit more info in the bug I linked to above.
