Ryan is very aware of my problem. But I decided to post just in case someone can fix it or someone else can confirm the problem:

The latest patch, which fixes the viewport switching problem (9/2/07) causes an annoying problem for me. I'm running Compiz Fusion 0.5.5 from Trevino's repo and didn't have any problems with the first patch (9/1/07) minus the viewport problem. The problem I have now is AWN doesn't want to stay below maximized windows. If AWN is behind the maximized window clicking ANYWHERE on the window will cause AWN come through. It will remain stuck there until I touch it again making it go back beneath the window. It also affects other aspects as well, such as window previews. I'm forced to use the first patch because of this.

Another problem is launchers that open folders (ex. Home or Computer) do not bounce after being launched. This can be fixed by applying the patch the libawn-effects bzr(73). If I try applying it to the regular bzr (81) it makes the icon become unstable. It won't bounce and it can't be removed (if you wanted to). It can, however, still be launched.

Ryan told me he is using Compiz Fusion 0.5.2 with no problems with the latest patch and another user, Soro, doesn't seem to be having any problems either. I've tried applying the latest patch to both the libawn-effects branch bzr and the regular. I've also did fresh installs with both and reset my gconf settings with no luck. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

After hours of searching, I think Ryan and I got one problem out of the way...The clicking problem I was having. Thanks Ryan. He's one step closer to getting this merged into trunk. He's still having problems with the Home/Computer Launchers not bouncing correctly after being launched.

Here is an updated patch.

I am going to leave the patch as is, as it looks like the libawn/effects guys are getting pretty close a working system. Once it gets merged into trunk it should solve the non-bouncing launcher problem. (isaacj87 reports that it does)

Ryan,

There seems to be a 2 more problems with the patch besides the launcher troubles.

-Window previews seem to be higher than normal

-Window previews are broken when the bar hasn't come through a maximized window. Meaning the only way to get previews for regular windows (terminal , games, folders, etc.) is to open a maximized window, have the bar come through and then you can see the previews.

***Um...okay...I guess I need to bite my tongue. I removed Compiz Fusion, just to install beryl and play with it. After getting tired with Beryl, I reinstalled Compiz Fusion (latest from Trevino's Repo 9/4/07) and everything seems fine now. I guess it's just bugs with Compiz and not the patch.***

So as of right now, no problems with window previews.
