Bug Description

The AWN Indicator Applet is partly broken in Ubuntu 11.10 as it only shows the network indicator and program indicators (eg. Synapse, Screenlets, etc.) without indicator-sound, the messaging menu, session applet, fast-user switching applet and indicator-datetime. This is a bug in version 0.4.1~bzr822-0ubuntu4 of avant-window-navigator with awn-applet-indicator version 0.4.1~bzr1507-0ubuntu4. I am using AWN in Panel mode with no other panels present and with Compiz enabled (although the results are the same with Metacity). I also have both libindicator6 and libindicator3-6 installed.
This is extremely important for users moving away from the GNOME Shell and Unity desktop environments.

Yep, awn has absolutely everything I need to keep using ubuntu without having to use unity, except for the indicator applet not playing nice quite yet. Would love to see this fixed!

Be sure to install GTK2 indicators versions (indicator-session-gtk2, indicator-sound-gtk2 ...). I use 11.10 and the indicators work with the packages in the official repository.

That seemed to work for the most part, but unfortunately the battery indicator doesn't show up as there is no gtk2 version available for Ubuntu 11.10. Ideally the indicator applet should be ported to work with the new gtk3 applets if possible.

Indicator-datetime doesn't show up either even though I installed the gtk2 version of it.

The Indicator Applet Session shows up rather blurred as well.

The newtork indicator doesn't seem to work in Ubuntu 12.04 as well as the other ones mentioned above.
