Global Menu Applet

There should be a Global Menu Applet - an applet that will show the menu bar of the currently focused application (like the indicator appmenu). I think the best solution would be an icon that after clicking would reveal the menu (like main menu applets do).

(I wanted to add it as a feature request but don't know how, I set the status to Opinion though)

There are 3 applets that show the application menu: Cairo Menu, YAMA and Main Menu (the last one in unmaintained). There are also third party applets like GnoMenu, Cardapio and there's an PPA for Mint Menu. What would be the difference between a "Global Menu Applet" and the aforementioned applets?

No, I didn't mean the Main Menu/YAMA/Cairo Menu but GLOBAL MENU - like this - http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globalmenu/ or the one Canonical makes for Unity and Ubuntu. It could be usefull to have one in AWN that looks similar to Cairo Menu/YAMA/Main Menu but shows menu of the current application.

+1 for this. I used to use globalmenu until I uninstalled gnome-panel. Best thing would be if the developers of globalmenu add support for Awn. So contact them.

That should be a nice applet, so we could have awn to emulate unity in 10.04 LTS.

I'd just like to add another "Yes please." I'm happily using AWN under 11.04 with no interest in using Unity, but the global menu applet would be a nice extra for some layouts.

Thumbs up! Global menu applet is useful after making the unity environment and disable customiztion of gnome-panel. Please implement.

There is a awn appmenu applet for Zorin OS but works only in precise. https://launchpad.net/~zorin-os/+archive/packages.
