Bug Description

Distribution: Ubuntu 10.04 Linux-x86_64
Version: Avant Window Navigator 0.4.1-rewrite-bzr743+201009122042 installed from https://launchpad.net/~awn-testing/+archive/ppa
Window Manager: Compiz / Openbox
Video Card: GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a Driver: 260.19.04

I'm using the new indicator applet in awn, and it works great, with the exception of one small issue. The indicator menus don't rollover while active when switching from one menu to the next as they do in gnome-panel. Its a small thing but as the spec for the indicators states they should behave as menus its strange that awn's implementation does not do this.

While I can confirm the described behaviour, I'm inclined to mark it as Won't fix because the Development Guidelines for Awn Extras say: "An icon SHOULD NOT open or close its dialog when it is hovered over. No action should be triggered by a hover other than the display of the applet title." The Indicator applet is maybe a different case because it is a host for several icons/menus and has no action itself.

I Can understand you position, you have guidelines too. However in gnome-panel, the indicator applet does not pop menus when hovered either. The expected behavior is click to open a menu and rollover when you move between indicators only while a menu is open. And seeing as AWN's indicator is one applet for all the indicators the behavior could be replicated without having to make an exception to your guidelines.

This seems to be a reasonable position. I believe this behaviour is within the guidelines. If it's decided that's it is not strictly within the guidelines then an exception can be made.

My feeling is that this is within the guidelines (since a click is required) - my vote would be to include this behaviour as the default and make it a configuration option in case someone does not like the behaviour.
