Cannot confirm this with metacity and radeon oss driver. However, if I click a couple of times on the applet quickly, that after a couple of times displaying the pop-up menu, it stops doing this. I need to go to the preferences window and click Ok to get the applet working again. Nothing special in terminal.

Gabor,

Once we get access to command line options in the applets I'm planning on
pulling Places and replacing it with a cairo-menu desktop file tailored to
only show that submenu.

Moonbeam, I've been experimenting with a replacement in https://code.launchpad.net/~gabor-karsay/awn-extras/cairo-places .

Gabor,

I'll have a look. Anything that would apply to the cairo menu code please suggest merging. What I really want to have is the ability to invoked cairo menu with a command option to the effect --menu PLACES. Then we only have one binary to ship and one set of code to maintain. When I get around to do the command line stuff it'll be quite straightforward - just need to determine how we should implement it.
