comics applet generates lots of network traffic

some times when adding new rss feed (happened to me twice) the comics applet starts to generate loads of network traffic. my system monitor showed 10 mbps outgoing. doesn't seem to bad from my server logs:

but it slowed everything down, and went on for days until i restarted awn.

i'm using the latest version from the ppa repository.

Does this happen when adding a new comic through the guide, or when you
add it to the list of visible comics? Could you please provide a link to
a comic for which this happens?

Has anybody else experienced this bug? Or has it somehow been resolved?
