Bug Description

The way it is now, an authentication page must be shown and its content posted for the user to be logged in. Some refactoring is needed to allow plugins to auto-login the user (for example, splash-only) without showing the login page.

In fact, that refactoring was done in march last year, so auto-login is already possible! Changing this bug to simply auto-login the splash-only authenticator...

summary: - Refactor authenticator to allow auto-login
