Hello,

The reason might be this:
GNOME will not automatically show Ubuntu's (original) AppIndicator icons on the systray area.
One must install extension to support AppIndicators on GNOME-Shell.

The extension you may need is this:
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/615/appindicator-support/
----

First, check your GNOME-version.
$ gnome-shell --version
(in my case it is: GNOME Shell 3.32.0)

Then download the .zip file from
https://github.com/ubuntu/gnome-shell-extension-appindicator
Select shell-version and extension version.

The copy & link the extension.
Read the "Installation" section of https://github.com/ubuntu/gnome-shell-extension-appindicator

--- Please notice ---
This is very easy to do in .DEP and .RPM based distros by using the Chrome-plugin for GNOME-desktop. I do not know how to do this in Manjaro.

Also, check the [Additional settings] in the audio-recorder.
Activate the "Show icon on the system tray" option.

Thanks! Worked great!
Was the new app indicator that wasn’t updated.
In manjaro its as easy as .deb .rpm, just need to make sure chrome-gnome-extension is installed then it works from any browser once uninstall the gnome extension in the browser too.
As far as the app goes its amazing i love it, being very new to linux (MACOS user) i would have loved to see something similar on other OS. Has great potential specially with writers my only comment would be that the GUI could be improved and perhaps an audio to txt/doc would be fabulous,
Thanks for the prompt response,
Malco

Hello Malco,

Good news. You got your systray back.
GNOME-desktop has (somehow) removed support for normal systray icons.

The audio-recorder program is 10 years old. LOL !
I do agree, it needs renovation, core-rewrite and new GUI.
