periodic reminders fire even after I turn them off

Bug Description
Steps to reproduce:
* add a new task. Enter the task summary and set periodic reminder to 1 hr. Note: no deadlines are set.
* save
* wait 2-3 hours to let the task fire off the reminder 2-3 times
* edit the task: set per. reminder to 0 hrs. Save.
Expected result:
* no reminders fire for this task
Actual result:
* reminders fire off every hour.
It's very annoying. I have been living with this bug for some time, but finally, I decided, I'm tired of it.
