Bug Description
Gates can be placed on Laser Fence sections. This is rarely a good thing, unless the distance between two posts is exactly 3 cells so you can make the gate close this "gap" completely. Otherwise, gate just kills the connection.

Your own report points out that there are situations in which this can be a valid usage case...I do think the fact that it's possible is not a bug in and on itself.
I think this would work better turned into a blueprint for the creation of laser-enabled gates.
