.shp units that Dig underground wont fully disappear

Bug Description
I have a .shp terrestrial dig vehicle that when traveling underground the unit is still visible to a certain point. It seems to only happen on maps or areas of the map that are Hieght=0. Is this a normal bug? and can it be fixed?
I have attached a pic to show what the unit is doing.

Pretty sure Westwood's solution to this was not to use height 0 in their maps :) Might be just a small correction, or it might be more trouble than it's worth.
