Edit1: Is the screenshot still needed ?

Edit2: Sorry about the duplicate. Something's wrong with internet connection and I didn't noticed I already posted one.

screenshots are always nice. I have a feeling I know what you're talking about here but a picture saves many words and lots of confusion.

I don't understand what I'm supposed to be looking at.

I see that the shadows are off-placed, and the turret doesn't appear... but that could be the result of any of numerous changes you may have made with the mod.

Is your problem the fact that tanks are placed in the little sub-cell spots like infantry are?

Also, for the record, I cannot find anything in the manual that says that this was fixed. Can you post up a direct quote from the manual regarding this so i can cross-reference it?

Are you sure?
In the 0.1 manual, it says like this.
Vehicle Paradrop Offset
Passengers of AircraftTypes get paradroped out if the AircraftType fires its weapon. The passengers would always use the infantry subcell positions for where they would be spawned, even if the passenger were not an InfantryType. This ultimately meant that vehicles would appear to fall part-way into the ground upon landing. This error no longer happens in Ares. (The same problem also used to occur with vehicles paradropped from aircraft with Carryall=yes set.)

alright, found it thanks.

So, if your report is true and in fact this wasn't fixed, this should actually be an "Incorrect Information" issue, and not a bug report.

I know. I should've read the manual thoroughly before posting. Should I file a new report?

I disagree, actually.
Sure, one can interpret it as "it wasn't fixed, so the manual claims are wrong", but since we obviously intended to fix it, and it's not, it's a bug in Ares, not in the documentation.

Revision comment:
Fixed issue #1232: Reset the carryall flag when a unit is paradropped.
Fixed issue #1509: Implemented DCoder's proposal for the Cursor parser.

Drawing a SHP unit's shadow used the wrong field to determine whether the unit was on a Carryall.

Exactly what does that fix?
I tried to reproduce this bug in carryall branch but I couldnt. See picture, the shadow is correct.

It fixes this very issue described above. The tank was drawn too low below the parachute, appearing disconnected (as the first picture shows). This was because the tank still thought it was connected to the Carryall. Carryalls usually don't support to drop their cargo in mid-air.

The shadow thing is not related to this, it's merely another thing that got fixed (it would only be visible if the unit is carried by a Carryall).

The Carryall branch has this fix applied also, thus, if you can't reproduce the issue if you follow the "Steps to reproduce", this is actually a good sign.

I see. Tested in trunk(and carryall branch). The vehicle is now drawn correctly with the parachute.
