Ability for weapons selected by range rather than Primary > Secondary

Bug Description

Instead of the Primary being used when either weapon would effect the target, check range instead. I.e; if the Primary is not in range but the secondary is, use the secondary instead.

How about range cut off/on ...if the target moves too close in, then it switches to the deadly/heavier secondary/primary...if it moves too far out vice versa

my dream would need the inculsion of tertiary in this scheme....it would be a close quaters combat weapon, only used when range is like 1-0...more or less then 1...

infantry .shp animation would have to be edited in accordance, I imagine the [sequence] would need alterations, maybe a flh addition for those who want to use country specific pistols...just a thought though

Actually, TS had/has a similar feature. In TS, when Secondary had a higher range but lower firepower than Primary, the unit would use Secondary as soon as the target was within range, but continued to move towards the target until it was in range of Primary.

Personally i don't really mind how exactly it is implemented, either way (Jeeves' approach or the TS approach) would be fine.

A problem I can see with this is that certain units such as the GI and Guardian GI and others would be a bit messed up. I say make it a flag on the unit rather than just a global change.

Strong support, this would be great. For guns being inaccurate at long range, but also for deciding whether to use a melee weapon or ranged (think devils tongue).

A flag on the unit would be great. The TS method lends for some interesting uses; imagine a rifle infantry shooting from the hip as he runs towards a target, then stopping to hit accurately. The "shoot from the hip" shot could have lower firepower and inaccuracy, and the "stop to shoot" shot could have higher firepower and accuracy. Close the distance!

Maybe an option like "CloseIn=Boolean" and a unit that way you could make a weapon that is high powered but low ROF used then the unit would close in with their weaker, but higher ROF secondary to finish the target off. This would also mean that ROFs need to be separate, as I believe in YR the weapons would share weapon cooldown time. (fires a high powered weapon, recharges it fully, then fires the rapid fire weapon; this needs fires a high powered weapon, closes in, fires rapid fire weapon regardless of high powered's recharge time)
