Yes hal package should be dependency on apt. By making it dependency, most peoples will get rid of annoying load button issue. This should be immediately done.

Hi,

this is not as simple as it seems because hal is in the process of being removed from Ubuntu and Debian, so it's not an option.
The right solution is to get rid of hal in aptoncd, but I don't have the skills to do so.

Patches are welcome.

Sorry

Fabrice

Fabrice, can you test the last code update? I removed the hal dependency
from code.

Hi Laudeci,

The Load button works, but I'm not able to make APTonCD works with a
CD, even if iso images works fine.

I'm not sure is this is linked to your changes or not, thought.

I did a test using the 'old' version and Hal, and it's working fine, so it has to be something with your changes. It's like it's detecting the CD but not reading the content.

Can we separately download hal package via synaptic package manger?

Fabrice, can you test it again? I don't have a disk to burn with aptoncd,
but I think the code for restauration without hal is working now

Hi,

@Ravi: yes, you can install hal, either with synaptic, aptitude or the following command line:
sudo apt-get install hal

@Laudeci: same as before: no package shows in the window

Fabrice, I've pushed a fix for the ''not listing packages" bug. Now tested
and working ' at last here it worked'.

Hi,

Sorry for the late answer: I've been travelling and working too much lately.

With commit 123, I'm getting the following exception:
