Error while installing Adobe Acroread from official adobe site

Bug Description
I downloaded the Adobe Acroread 8.1.7 deb file from the official adobe website, and tried to install, however an error is shown
There seems to be a programming error in aptdaemon, the software that allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package management related tasks.
i check the dpkg.log
install adobereader-enu <none> 8.1.7
status half-installed adobereader-enu 8.1.7
not-installed adobereader-enu <none>
that's all i get... i did try to install 8.1.7 before from the Chinese rpm package that also failed.
