There should be some kind of indication in the list item that installing the update will require a restart

Debian/Ubuntu does not provide a flag to indicate if a package will require a reboot. http://askubuntu.com/questions/674967/how-to-check-if-installing-a-package-will-require-a-reboot

The only way to know that a reboot is required is if the package creates a /var/run/reboot-required file before installation is completed.

This requires you to install the package to find out.

It is possible to add a warning flag that a package requires a reboot. No current software respects this hypothetical flag.

Hm maybe we can poke upstream to see if this would be possible to add to the appstream spec
