Bug Description

I documented this (long before I discovered it was apparmor) in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sYb3agAp-w

This was done on an existing and fresh install of Linux Mint (ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS base). As soon as apparmor is disabled (with option apparmor=0 in grub configuration), usb devices are detected, and work just fine. Curious to note if this affects every later release of ubuntu and those based on it (which I don't have the time to test all of them).

It seems virtualbox pushed out an update ever since I got the video made (linked in initial report), I re-enabled apparmor by commenting out the line in grub configuration, updated and restarted. The issue's been fixed, so far. I admit I should've launched virtualbox before filing a bug report, as it tells you when an update is available.

Well, at least we now have a bugreport which might help someone else ;-)

Since the issue is fixed with the latest virtualbox, I'll close this bugreport.
