Panel colors should match rest of New Wave theme

Binary package hint: gnome-themes-ubuntu

The grays of the Gnome panel are slightly different than the grays used elsewhere in the New Wave theme. Maybe this is by design, but the effect is subtle enough that it just looks wrong to my eyes. I would advocate either making them identical or making them less similar.

This is, of course, an incredibly minor thing to complain about :)

This color is by design. It is dictated by usability reasons and would not be changed in the default theme. You could use the New Wave Configurator to change the panel theme if you want a greater difference:

Well, speaking solely as a user, my thought when seeing this was not, "Ooh, usable!" but, "Looks like they forgot to change the defaults on the panel color." Only when I looked more carefully did I find that the colors changed slightly from Radiance (Lucid's default) but didn't match the window colors. But if this is by design, I won't push it any further.

Thanks for the quick reply and letting me know about the Configurator. I'll play with that a bit and see what I come up with.

I have to say that New Wave is a theme that is almost 2 years old (version 0.3 is the first public one [1]) and Radiance is based on parts of it and parts of dust. My design vision is that the panel should be darker then the rest (or the window's top (menubar+titlebar) should be lighter than the panel to say it the other way) unlike dust which used very dark window's top.
