Yes, I agree the icon sticks out. However, it's up to each theme to
provide appropriate monochrome versions of icons in the panel.

The icons are installed to the default /usr/share/icons/hicolor
directory, and can easily be overridden by each theme. The icon names
are 'alarm-clock' and 'alarm-clock-triggered'.
