Bug Description

Sir,
Firefox crashes either in standard or in Safe Mode when I browse FaceBook pages.

This happens since some weeks back updates, and it has not been fixed yet.

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS Trusty 64 bit with GNOME Fallback GUI on AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+ CPU with 4GB Ram.

Many thanks for your feedback.
Regards
Mauro

I am seeing this on Wily as well. Additionally, this might be unrelated, sometimes, on youtube, video is black (sound works) when it switches to _HD_, fullscreen or windowed.

of course this bug happens with less famous web pages, but many of them
are plenty of multimedia contents

Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah :-)

I guess it is due to the fact Firefox calls up the OpenGL automatically,
even running in safe mode, while "/other/" browsers do not act in the
same way. !

It simply seems that the Flash plug-in is crashing! 🔥

Please, do the following:
1. Into the Terminal application, enter "sudo apt-get purge
flashplugin-installer -y".
2. Test if Firefox still crashes, and tell the result here.
3. Set this bug status back to "confirmed".

Thank you 👌

I had the same problem after updating ubuntu to 17.04. After some recent updates it seems to be solved and system doesn't crash anymore, but the cpu fan is overworking and the computer is heated abnormally. This happens only with Facebok in Mozilla Firefox and closing Facebook tab put the system back to normal mode.

Does anyone still see a problem related to the one that was reported using currently supported versions of Firefox and Ubuntu? Please let us know if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time.
